Rocky Entriken's 1964 Spitfire, owned since 1966. Rocky's brother, Buck, turned it into a race car and raced it for three years (1971-73), after which he reclaimed it. Rocky runs the Spitfire in both Solo II and road racing. This photo is from the 2000 SCCA Solo II Nationals, where he placed 9th. This car has the distinction of having competed in more Solo II National Championships than any other single car, regardless of class or category. It missed only the inaugural event, but has run in every one since 1974. 2001 was the 29th Nationals and the 28th appearance of this Spitfire (next closest, a Corvette and a Corvair that have each driven in 26 Nationals). It trophied 4th in 1974, 5th in 1976. |
