Car ran SCCA in the Northeast in the 60's and has been
running SVRA, VSCDA, and in Canada in the late 80's / early 90's. It ran at the 1992 event
and we fully intend to be at the 2002 event. |

Attending this race will _BE_ the historical significance
of my TR6 vintage racer. I still maintain that it's the vintage of the DRIVER that counts,
and I'm certainly 'historical', although hardly 'significant'. |

This car is an early TR3, and the 13th vehicle produced
with Disc Brakes. Except for a short period in the mid-1970s (perhaps six months), this
car has been a race car all of its life. To my knowledge, it is the oldest Triumph in the
USA still racing. |

Yes! I should have faster tow vehicle by then. 3 days each
way from Florida in "Victoria", my dear Landy, was OK in '92 but I'm too old for
it now! Neither I nor my car has any historical significance
whatsoever other than aforementioned age factor. |

Raced this car since 1987, about 80-90 races over 14 years.
This scares me as it must mean I've spent about $100M and I would have spent a lot more if
I ever bought tires!! |

I will do my best to promote the event in Texas for both

champ twice. Now it's just a collection of parts! |

Ambro Triumph #002 built by my father Bill Ames in 1959/60.
Raced in the Midwest in the early 60's. The car was restored in the late 80's-early 90's
when Bill again raced it as a vintage car in the east and Northeast until his death in
1997. It is now run with RMVR and Nostalgia racing in Colorado and New Mexico. In the
winter of 2000/01 the Ambro received a complete ground up restoration by Tom Ellis of
Thomas Vintage Motors in Boulder CO. |

The car has been a race car at least since the late 60's.
Lou Gigliotti, now of Trans-Am
fame, raced the car from 71 to 73. This was his first race car. He ran nationals in 73 and
went to the run-offs. He had set a lap record at Watkins Glen in the car, and beat Group
44 at Pocono in the rain. Drew Wagner raced the car from 74 to 78+- and sold it in 81. The
car sat around until I bought it in 94. I run with the SCCA in the Volvo Historic Series. |

This 1966 TR4A was built to racing spec. By Steve Froines
at his Cal Auto shop. Steve won SCCA National in EP the year previously. He wanted to try
the new IRS suspension to see how it would work. He was a bit uncomfortable with it, he
said and sold it in 1967 to a fellow who then raced it in the Portland area. One of the
problems that Froines had was breakage of rear hubs. Kastner paid to have 6 special
"bullet proof" hubs made for this and two other cars. Those hubs are still
strong and solid 35 continual racing seasons later. |

Stan Turnbower puchased the car new, drove it home and
immediately converted to SCCA race trim. Campaigned by Stan until his death as a result of
a racing accident at Ponco City in this car. The car was purchased from his estate by Mike
Ryan of Des Moines and again campaigned until the early eighties. I purchased the car from
Mike in 1987 and returned it to the correct body shape and style for vintage competition
and have raced it ever since. |

This car is one of two in the USA and one of perhaps a
dozen on the road anywhere. Early comp history is likely but unknown. I autocrossed at the
